The Program

This course introduces students to the archaeology and history of one of the most iconic landscapes of the ancient world. By combining archaeology, ancient history, and philosophy, this course is designed to bring ancient Greece to life through both classroom learning and an unforgettable 10-day field trip to Greece. In class we will cover the main sites of Greece and the artifacts that inform the archaeological record. We will also address key historical figures including many of the ancient Greek philosophers and their teachings. During the trip portion of the class, students will see first-hand the ancient sites where Socrates and Plato taught the first university students, the temples of Greek mythology, and many of the most significant artifacts of this era.
