As you prepare for your arrival to the U.S., and to Rutgers University-Camden, we understand some of those questions will include housing and living accommodations in the Camden/Philadelphia area. Typical apartments range in size/layout from studio/efficiencies to 2-bedrooms or entire houses. Utilities (gas, electric, cable/Wi-Fi and/or water) are not typically included. Most accommodations are unfurnished.
Listed are some search tools commonly used in the U.S. to find living accommodations followed by a list of apartments close to the Rutgers-Camden Campus:
- Included are the zip/postal codes used in areas where students tend to live. These include zip codes in Philadelphia, PA (accessible to campus by high-speed train) and towns throughout southern NJ (all within a 20-minute train-ride to campus).
- Many students choose to live in Philadelphia (Philly), the 5thlargest city in the U.S. It is also only a 6-minute train ride from campus to Center City Philadelphia. Philly is easy to navigate with plenty of public transportation.
- International students who live in Philly tend to reside in: Center City, Olde City, Fishtown, University City/West Philly and Chinatown/Center City North.
- These are only recommendations and not an exhaustive list of available options.
- Please search properties thoroughly and do not hesitate to contact the property owner/leasing agent with questions.
- DO NOT SIGN A LEASE OR AGREEMENT BEFORE SEEING AND INSPECTING THE PROPERTY! This means, you should not sign a lease if you are currently out of the country or state.
- If you are interested in finding roommates, please join our Facebook Group: Rutgers Camden International Students. Please comment that you are looking for roommates.
- If you are looking for housing outside of Camden, you can use the following search tools:

- apartments.com
- hotpads.com
- Facebook Marketplace
- We do not recommend using Craigslist’s. housing by zip code. Here are common zip codes within our area: When using these search engines, it is easier to find
