The Program
This course will explore the economic and political dynamics of East Asia, with a focus on finance, security, and commodities. Students will gain an understanding of the historical and contemporary economic and political developments in the region, as well as the key actors and institutions shaping the geoeconomics of East Asia. The course will cover topics such as the rise of China and its impact on the region, the Korean peninsula, the South China Sea disputes, and the impact of globalization on East Asia. Additionally, the course will focus on the financial and security implications of these developments and the role of key commodities in shaping the geoeconomics of the region. The course will focus on the international relations and economies of Vietnam, China, and Japan.
