F-1 international students are eligible to engage in on-campus employment upon arrival into the U.S. in F-1 status. (You can arrive into the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the start of your program as listed on your form I-20.) On-campus employment is permitted at any Rutgers campus or satelitte location. However, businesses adjacent to Rutgers University-Camden are not eligible for on-campus work (such as 7/11).
On-campus employment for F-1 international students is limited to up to 20 hours a week (part-time) during fall and spring semesters and 20 hours or more per week (full-time) during summer and University breaks.

While the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations provide a limited opportunities for F-1 international students to be employed during their time in F-1 student status, working without proper authorization is a serious violation of the F-1 student status. Please consult with the OIS with any concerns.
Remember, employment is not a guarantee but a privilege of your status, with prior authorization.

Work-Study Positions
International students are not eligible for work-study positions on campus, as these positions are funded only for U.S. citizens and permanent residents by the U.S. government.
