The Passport to the World Initiative, offered through Rutgers Global, is currently open. This year, Rutgers Global, the administrator for this initiative, is partnered with our Student Academic Success division in Armitage Hall, Room 231 – Contact Us – Center for Learning and Student Success.

Up to $180 is covered by this initiative to help students obtain a passport for the first time.

Application deadlines are:

  • Application Submission Deadline (Graduating, Fall 2025):  October 15, 2025
  • Application Submission Deadline (Graduating, Winter 2026):  October 15, 2025
  • Application Submission Deadline (Graduating, Spring 2026):  April 1, 2026
  • Application Submission Deadline (Graduating, Summer 2026):  April 1, 2026
  • Application Submission Deadline (Returning / Non-Graduating):  June 1, 2026

The main elements of the application include:  a) attending one of the orientations, b) a personal statement section, along with c) completing two learning modules about the passport acquisition process. 

Students are strongly advised to submit their application well before the deadlines; if they are considering studying abroad, ideally no less than 4-6 months prior to their intended departure date.  Rutgers Global will offer at least 2 weekly orientation sessions for applicants during the academic year (excluding university holidays and breaks) by Zoom each Tuesday and Friday.
